The challenge involved creating a motion piece that encourages adults and older children to share their Christmas beetle sightings because of their anecdoted decreasing population.

I discovered that media targeting children often appeals to all ages because of childhood nostalgia, whose familiarity is also a proven appeal to action. Based on this insight, my concept plays on a well-known Christmas poem from many childhoods, A Visit from St. Nicholas to prompt even an older audience to contribute.

The video's familiar illustrations carry the warmth of nostalgia and highlight the magical charm of both the Christmas season and its aptly named Christmas beetles.
